The Blogging Church: Sharing the Story of Your Church Through Blogs

By Bailey & Young

ISBN 0787984876

The Blogging Church offers church leaders a field manual for using the social phenomenon of blogs to connect people and build communities in a whole new way. Inside you will find the why, what, and how of blogging in the local church. Filled with illustrative examples and practical advice, the authors answer key questions learned on the frontlines of ministry: Is blogging a tool or a toy? What problems will blogging solve? How does it benefit ministry? How do I build a great blog? and Who am I blogging for?

The Blogging Church is a handbook that will inspire and equip you to join the conversation.

The book includes contributions from five of the most popular bloggers in the world—Robert Scoble, Dave Winer, Kathy Sierra, Guy Kawasaki, and Merlin Mann, as well as interviews with blogging pastors such as Mark Driscoll, Craig Groeschel, Tony Morgan, Perry Noble, Greg Surratt, Mark Batterson, and many more.

Book Reviews

Brian Bailey has written a much-needed book in the field of church communications, entitled The Blogging Church:  Sharing the Story of Your Church Through Blogs.  Eminently readable at 183 pages, this book explores the logistics and theories behind the art of blogging.  Although it’s written with church communications in mind, there is plenty of information here for anybody who wishes to put blogging to work for them.: anotherstorm.wordpress.com

Marketing expert Seth Godin says "Brian Bailey makes two things crystal clear in this book: if you've got a church, then you need to spread your story. And if you need to spread your story, blogs are now an essential tool. - .....One of the most interesting features of the book is the inclusion of several short chapters by pioneering bloggers such as Robert Scoble, Dave Winer, Kathy Sierra, Guy Kawasaki, as well as leading pastors who have seen the benefit of blogging, such as Mark Driscoll, Tony Morgan, Perry Noble, Greg Surratt, Craig Groeschel and Mark Batterson.Brian Bailey is an excellent writer and pioneer of blogging for the benefit of church ministry....If you're trying to figure out whether your church should get involved with blogging, or how to get started in a way that will maximize impact on ministry, "The Blogging Church" by Brian Bailey with Terry Storch is a must-read....Larry Baxter - Deacon and IT Ministry Leader, Calvary Baptist Church, West Lafayette, IN.

This book could probably be read in the course of a single day, but the implications therein are much farther reaching. I have long felt that we as Christians live in a unique part of history. Not since the printing press has there been such a paradigm shift in the way information is presented. Brian and Terry get to the crux of speaking in today’s vernacular – blogs. by Nathan Smithhttp ://godbit.com/article/blogging-church

If you are thinking about starting a blog, or if you are relatively new to the blogosphere, this book will likely provide some helpful direction and even give you some confidence that you have some idea of what you are doing. If you are a blogging veteran, this book will probably not teach you anything new as far as the technical aspect of blogging, but my guess is it might provide some very helpful reminders about why you started blogging in the first place.
