The Chaplaincy Phenomena

 By Joëlle Kabamba

This book takes a long hard look at just what it is like on the frontline of this emerging ministry. It has been told from the heart and uses real stories of young people coming to Christ. It is the good, the bad and the ugly of what it is like being a young person today – at a time when the idea of family values has diminished and fear of the world at large is commonplace.

School chaplaincy is a feeder ministry – it is a way of directly targeting potential Christians and bringing them to God and into the church environment. If we don’t spend time investing in this ministry now, our churches will suffer the consequences of an ageing population base unable to support its initiatives.

The key word is ‘invest’ – invest in our youth today and watch them flourish in the world of tomorrow. Joelle epitomises the true spirit of Christianity. She found a way of blending her faith with secular teaching. A way we can continue to achieve this is to institute a chaplaincy program into the curriculum of every government school in Australia and to support this initiative financially, spiritually and physically. We also need to promote schoolchaplaincy as an attractive and viable career option for young
