What is Solution Focused Coaching?

Solution Focused Coaching moves to free people from negative thought systems. Many individuals are trapped by negative beliefs and held hostage by them. Solution focused coaching engages the client in conversation about their goals and ambitions in life. Instead of focusing on the problem the coach gets the client to focus on solving the problem. The solution focused technique is used by athletes to visualise competing and winning an event.

Here's how it works: Identify

Together we identify those areas of your life you’d like to see different and better such as:

  • Professional achievement
  • Growth and development of your business
  • Career change or advancement
  • Transformational change
  • Strategic planning
  • Building a legacy

Next we help you identify your internal strengths that have brought you success in the past and show you how to utilize them, which will help you achieve success into the future.

Clarify

Together we identify values and define goals. Values are those factors that give meaning to your life and make your goals worth achieving. Defining your goals and visualizing success assists providing clear direction.

Plan

Having identified your values and goals we work with you to draw up a plan and determine the most effective steps you can take to achieve success. This plan serves as your roadmap for life coaching.

Act and Refine

In each life coaching session we continually review and modify your plan so that it keeps pace with your values, goals and experience and continues to serve you in the best way possible.  This process provides you with the opportunity to discover new, undeveloped resources to help you achieve success.

What is CBT - (Cognitive- Behavioural Techniques)?

Coaching leaders for transformational change using CBT involves changing the very way they think, enhancing their ability to challenge organizational assumptions, increasing their ability to deal better with ambiguity and be more creative and reflective.

CBT is a practical, competency-based, and action oriented model for helping individuals at virtually every level of management to have greater success and a more positive impact on their work, those with whom they work, and on their personal lives.

CBT coaching that assumes that maladaptive, or faulty, thinking patterns cause maladaptive behavior and "negative" emotions. (Maladaptive behavior is behavior that is counter-productive or interferes with everyday living.) This method of coaching focuses on assisting individuals to replace undesirable behaviors or thoughts with healthier behavioral or thought patterns. Unlike counselling, it does not focus on uncovering or understanding the unconscious motivations that may be behind the maladaptive behavior. Rather the coach assists the client to change their behavior and thoughts in order to achieve their goals and vision for real and intended transformational change in the organisations they lead and in their own personal lives.

What is NLP - (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)?

Many people (regardless of their level of education) suffer from a lack of knowledge of how their system of beliefs and attitudes influences the quality of their lives. Their perception of their career and life may be clouded by excuses and reasons why they cannot succeed.

In business, NLP is used to improve communication, model intuitive talents and skills, and pass those skills onto other people. NLP models of communication and behaviour improve customer relationships, increase effectiveness of sales people, helps managers and leaders to become more purposeful and empathic, thus enable businesses to be more effective.

A coach may use NLP to explore the relationship between how a client thinks (neuro), how they communicate both verbally and non-verbally (linguistic) and how patterns of behaviour and emotion (programmes) can be changed and assist the client to

  • take control of their body language in such a way that it sparks positive communications and interactions with others,
  • build strengths in both familiar and unfamiliar of their live,
  • remove mental blocks to their creativity, banishing performance anxiety, boosting self-confidence, and unlocking their potential,
  • lower competition stress, reducing burnout, improving self-confidence, attaining peak performance mindset, and increasing performance consistency,
  • take responsibility for their own results,
  • increasing their optimistic attitude by focusing on positive internal emotional states, self-confidence, decisiveness and self-reliability.

The Purpose of Different Coaching Assessment, Techniques and Methods

The coaching assessment, techniques and methods serve several purposes. These include the following:
  • assessing the needs of the coachee
  • induces coachee’s self-awareness by having coaches focus on aspects of their behaviour they may not have considered previously, such as personality style, communication style and how other perceive them.
  • increasing the coachee’s range of choices
  • developing and enhancing the coachee’s personal and technical skills
  • challenging the coachee’s self-limiting beliefs and attitudes
  • promoting self-responsibility and self-direction in the coachee
